My professional journey so far

Welcome!

Thanks for taking an interest in my professional journey. I’d like to share some of my experiences so you can get a sense of how I got to where I am today.

In the beginning . . .

It all began with a love of technology. I was fortunate enough to be exposed to it as young as five. My earliest memories involve command-lining through MS-DOS to load games and files. From then on, my curiosity about technology and how to use it only grew.

I’ve always had a passion for video games and once hoped to become a game developer. I built my own PCs with the latest hardware and software, which eventually led me to the University of South Australia, where I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Computer and Information Science (Software Engineering). There, I learned a lot about project management, scoping, and object-oriented programming in Java. While this fed my intellectual curiosity, I realised my creative side was yearning for more.

A change of direction

Halfway through my degree, I realised this path wasn’t fully aligned with my interests. I soon discovered a course in Information Technology (Multimedia), which immediately captured my attention. It offered a hands-on approach to a variety of disciplines and technologies, including Photoshop, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Flash, digital photography, and digital videography. I even built my first game in Adobe Flash, a take on Nintendo’s popular Gnat Attack, where I introduced new weapons and clever animations to dispatch bugs that appeared randomly over time and in response to user actions.

MV Multimedia was born

Shortly after, I started my own business. Armed with an ABN and a determination to succeed, I founded MV Multimedia, offering services in graphic design, printing, web design/development, and digital photography. During my freelance work, I met Greg from EDynam, who introduced me to WordPress. From that moment, my path was clear, WordPress captivated me, from backend content management to frontend web design.

My EDynam years

After about a year contracting with EDynam, I joined full-time. The company offered graphic design, printing, web design, hosting, and Google Apps services, a lot for a two-person team! Eventually, EDynam focused on web design/development, hosting, and Google Workspace. I dove deep into WordPress, mastering its capabilities and building web experiences across a wide range of industries. Over the next 13 years, the EDynam team grew, and our processes and offerings became more sophisticated and results-driven, always focused on delivering tangible outcomes for our clients. We became known for outstanding service, earning over 180 genuine five-star reviews on Google from satisfied clients. Along the way, our work was also recognized with several design awards, which was a proud acknowledgment of our commitment to quality and creativity.

Where I am today

I’ve always been impressed by WordPress’s flexibility. I feel like I can build anything with it, whether you should is a different question, but with over 300 websites under my belt, ranging from multisites and e-commerce platforms to e-learning and job boards, I consider myself a humble master of WordPress, constantly learning and refining my craft.

I like to think of myself as the Hattori Hanzo of website creation: each project builds on the experience of the last, resulting in sites that are thoughtfully crafted, from HTML semantics to performance optimisation and scalability. And the user experience? Simply a chef’s kiss.

Today, I love sharing my passion for web design and development and bringing my years of experience to anyone interested in learning or collaborating.
