We’re living in the golden age of online learning. Seriously. Want to level up your web development skills or keep up with WordPress trends? You don’t need to scour textbooks or expensive courses, there’s a wealth of free, high-quality content at your fingertips.
Here are my top five favourite creators who’ve helped me stay sharp, learn modern CSS tricks, and finally stop floating everything left like it’s 2010. They’re entertaining, insightful, and packed with practical tips that every developer should know.
5. Syntax – Full-Stack Web Dev Podcast Magic

Hosted by Wes Bos and Scott Tolinski since 2017, Syntax has over 900 episodes covering the full spectrum of web development: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, Node.js, databases, deployment environments—you name it.
- Wes Bos is a coding wizard and lifelong learner who builds courses on everything from TypeScript to React.
- Scott Tolinski, co-host and founder of Level Up Tutorials, is also a breakdancer (B-boy alert!) and loves snowboarding and pushing his physical limits.
- CJ jumped in to create deep-dive YouTube videos, sharing full-stack tips and insights from his own experience as a developer and host of Coding Garden.
Why I love them: Syntax podcasts became my go-to for learning new techniques, problem-solving ideas, and workflow optimisations. It’s like having a mini conference in your headphones while commuting.
4. Brian Coords – WordPress Developer Educator

If you’re a WordPress developer still thinking in “classic editor” Brian Coords will wake you up, gently, but firmly. Brian teaches modern WordPress development, especially Gutenberg and block-based workflows.
I credit him with helping me modernise my approach: moving away from legacy page builder thinking to efficient, clean, scalable WordPress themes. His insights on block development and best practices are essential for anyone serious about WordPress in 2025.
WordPress is evolving fast and Brian’s tips will keep you up to date with the latest.
3. Fireship – High-Intensity Coding Tutorials

Fireship drops quick, high-energy videos that cram knowledge into your brain faster than a double espresso. Each week, new tutorials and tech news cover languages, frameworks, and emerging development trends.
Why it’s brilliant: If you love concise, nerdy dev humour sprinkled into actual practical guidance, this is your jam. Fireship is the perfect channel for staying current without losing hours to long-winded tutorials.
2. Kevin Geary – WordPress & Agency Development Maestro

Kevin’s channel is for freelancers, agency owners, and developers looking to level up their WordPress game. He teaches everything from advanced CSS and UX/UI to copywriting, SEO, and business growth, all sprinkled with real-world application.
Kevin created EtchWP and Automatic.css, tools I’m watching closely as he pushes the WordPress dev community forward. While I don’t yet use Etch, his insights on clean, modern WordPress development are invaluable.
Personal note: Kevin’s guidance helped me rethink my own WordPress projects, modernising my workflow, improving code quality, and making scalable solutions a habit. Shout-out to Kevin and the Etch team for powering the community forward!
1. Kevin Powell – CSS Jedi Master

If it wasn’t for Kevin Powell, I’d still be floating divs and frantically clearing fixes like it’s 2010. His CSS tutorials are next-level, covering the latest features before most of us even know they exist.
I’ve personally transformed my front-end approach thanks to Kevin: moving from JS-heavy interactions to a CSS-first, JS-last workflow, making designs cleaner, faster, and more maintainable.
Why follow him: Kevin mixes humour, practical examples, and deep CSS insight. You’ll laugh, you’ll learn, and you’ll finally understand why display: grid is your new best friend. Thank you Kevin for making our corner of the internet just a little more awesome.
Final Thoughts
These five creators aren’t just entertaining, they’re game changers for any WordPress or web developer. From CSS glow-ups to modern WordPress workflows, they’ve shaped the way I code, learn, and stay ahead in this ever-evolving industry.
